strep throat...

poor poor quinn - he'd been complaining of mouth pain and then seemed to be indicating it hurt in his throat - we've been watching him, and today i thought i saw white on his left tonsil - off to urgent care we went - positive strep test.....aaaggghhhhh - i can't believe it - good that in 24hrs. he'll be on his way to feeling much better - but crazy that he even caught it - we haven't even been anywhere except for an outdoor park!!! So now the concern comes for the rest of us - Billy's on an antibiotic for his last cold - so he's probably safe - hoping Keira and i make it through w/out catching it....

mom did i have it at this young of an age??? how often did i get it?

Asking for your prayers...

I'm sorry to have to post about such a sad event - My sweet friend Thea found out at her 12 wk. ultra sound, that the baby's brain stem didn't fully develop, and the scull has not formed. Spina Bifida & Anencephaly - is the medical term. The bottom line is that the baby will either die before term - or die immediately after birth if she were to carry him/her. Due to these problems - only part of the brain has even begun to develop - the part responsible for the atonomic functions - heart beat/reflex type movements. There is no consciousness and there will not be. So - her and her husband have decided to terminate the pregnancy. She is having the procedure on Tues. - as you can imagine this has come as a terrible shock, and the decision they've had to make is taking it's toll. Many of you know Thea, Terry and their little guy Trey - please keep them, especially Thea close to your heart and in your prayers - she's emotionally drained, my heart breaks for her - for her sweet baby - one that will not know the sacrifices, and unconditional love its mother has made and given it...
Again - please send her your prayers...

1st night in a big boy bed...????

Today our neighbors gave us a blue race car toddler bed that their son was no longer using - Quinn was instantly intrigued!!! It's now 11:30pm and he's still in it! We had a good talk about staying in bed if he wanted to sleep in it...we'll let you know!!!

I'm really excited to say that I'm going to go full speed into photography - I've had 4 trial runs - another big thanks to those of you who let me practice! - and am feeling more and more confident...very exciting - hoping things begin to take off! Are you out there???

Actually, we know that you're out there reading our posts (we have a counter that tells who visits) - so what's the excuse? No comments??? I've been joking w/Billy that I may have to start tempting you more....no comments....no pictures!!! AAAGGGHHHH - just kidding, but I do have to say, we check our blog daily, if not multiple times a day - always in hope of a comment or two. There hasn't been anything there for quite some time! A bit disappointing...

Some good news to share!

• Keira is off her medication and doing great! We're going on about 2 wks. - she's doing wonderful! We couldn't be happier for her, that she has outgrown her acid reflux! She's a delight - sweet, content, smiley, a pure joy, loves her brother to pieces, has nothing but smiles for Daddy, and of course is a Mommy's girl. I love it!!!
• Quinn has gone poopie on the potty 2 days in a row! He'd been fighting the whole idea - even w/jelly bean bribes...I know- not a good idea to bribe, and especially w/candy! So, after many attempts, a few wet pants - he has told me when he's had to go the last 2 days!!! He gets very excited to hear the "pop" - sound when it hits the water; and loves telling it to go swimming, and he'll see them soon! No luck w/pee-pee yet, but hopefully he's getting the idea and continues to be happy about it!
• Keira is sitting up on her own - hardly falls anymore; waving occasionally and snuggles into me with her head! So very cute... No teeth yet - drooling like she's getting a mouth full of teeth any day!
• Quinn seems to be letting go of his vegetarian mode...sorry Annie! He's eaten roasted chicken, tuna fish, and even a few little bites of steak - big improvement from the past spitting out of any meat that passed his lips -
• Quinn told me he had to nurse his baby (toy doll) went over to his elmo chair lifted his shirt and began to feed him...within a minute, he yelled..."Ow!! Don't bite me baby - that hurts!" - Keira bit me the yesterday....obviously it made quite an impression on him!

St. Patrick's Day

HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY!

Just a quick HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY wish to all of you! We've just come back from lunch at a cute Irish Pub - wonderful music being played by a band - the kids really got a kick out of it! Now it's time to prep for our own party!!! Bill & Kathy along with a handful of friends are coming to celebrate w/us. Billy's taken the reins on this one - all the cooking being done by him!!! We'll be sure to post pictures later this weekend...

Grandpa Gene's birthday - we surprised him!

Keira's baptism 5/6/07

hi there - just wanted everyone to know that Keira is going to be baptized on Sunday, May 6th. The ceremony will follow the 10:30 mass - probably starting @ 11:45 am. She, like Quinn, will be baptized by Father Tom Hayes @ St. Mary's in Clifton Park. We're very grateful that he was willing to do it, as we've been in Niskayuna for a few years, and only go to mass there occasionally. So - we will be having a party at our home afterwards - more details to follow!
I'll start looking into hotels for anyone who may need one.
