Keira - 3wks. old
Getting bigger by the day - our little one now weighs 8lbs. 12oz.!! Her faces continues to change, and although we still don't know who she really looks like, there are moments and expressions that resemble her brother!!! Overall she's doing well. Being off dairy has helped - she's more settled and content. She's been giving me one 4+ hr. burst of sleep at night, but generally she's up every 3-31/2 hrs. Quinn continues to adore her - so cute to watch him be so gentle with her!!!

Dairy, dairy, dairy...???
Well - today it begins...I've taken myself off of dairy. Since she's come home, Keira has seemed to progressively become more unsettled. Some other diaper signs are also starting to point in the direction of her being bothered by me eating dairy. So - before it gets worse, I'm going to remove it from my diet. The cow's milk connection is what it's termed. Basically, it's believed that the proteins in cow's milk can be passed through breast-milk from mother to child. Just as you don't give a baby milk - until the age of 1 - because they can't digest it, the proteins that pass are hard to digest and irritate the intestines of some newborns. Quinn had the same problem...
To say I'm frustrated is a huge understatement!! But I do want to nurse her, and at this point don't seem to have a choice. Dairy, and milk derivitives are in so many more things than you'd think. Many breads contain whey - milk derivative. Also, non-dairy creamer contains sodium casinate/casin...milk derrivitives...both of which need to be removed from my diet. So here we go again - a good 6 months of an altered diet. Pass along any dairy free recipes you may have!!!
On another note, we've registered at winkflash.com - a digital picture site that we'll be able to send whole albums out for you to view. Similar to Kodak Easy share, Snapfish etc - you're able to view the albums at no cost, but can purchase prints etc. if you desire. No promises as to how quick we'll use it, but we'll get to it eventually!! We'll keep you posted on how things are going - in the meantime send settled tummy, and sleepy prayers our way!!!

Enjoy!
"Ama... and Nona" with their 2 little ones! What a blessing family is!!
Looking forward to all of you meeting Keira.
Quinn was feeling quite proud of himself...
Taking a bit of a rest... Don't let this peaceful little one fool you! This only happens during the day. At night someone prefers to be a mamma's girl...
